This Thanksgiving, local chefs, bakers, and caterers will bake and donate hundreds of pies, which will support a goal to feed and provide programs and services for thousands of low-income families in Indian River County. Pies For A Purpose will provide pies to local non-profits making it possible for families to sit down and enjoy the finishing touch to their tasty Thanksgiving dinner. Together with local charitable partners, these families are able to sit down to a Thanksgiving meal they may not otherwise have had. In addition to donating pies, the Indian River County community will also have the option to purchase local chefs’ gourmet pies for their own Thanksgiving table by making a donation to The Buggy Bunch.
How it works: Local bakers “pie” it forward by supporting Pies For A Purpose and donating apple, pecan, or pumpkin pies. Indian River County residents will be encouraged to purchase pies for those in need and for their own Thanksgiving table beginning October 1st and ending on November 24th. Charitable partners receive donated pies and serve them to local families during the Thanksgiving week.
